Case Studies

Findings by Use Case

Asbestos #1

Bathroom Gutted for Renovation in Condominium. Amosite and chrysotile asbestos in wall adjoining neighboring condo bathroom. Scope of work designed to demonstrate worse case scenario, deliberately overloading personal samples during renovation. All remediation done under neutral air using AeroSolver's fogging method. Negative air only in decontamination chambers. Project monitored by Applied Environmental, Inc. TEM analysis performed by AMA Analytical Services, Inc.

RESULT: Clearance testing by TEM showed no asbestos fibers in remediation area.

Asbestos #2

Kitchen Gutted due to water leak into electrical panel in condomium. Amosite and chrysotile asbestos in wall adjoining neighboring condo kitchen. All remediation done under neutral air using AeroSolver's fogging method. Negative air only in decontamination chambers. Project monitored by Geller Environmental Labs, Inc. TEM analysis performed by EMSL Analytical, Inc.

RESULT: Clearance testing by TEM showed <15.0 str/mm2, which is lowest detection level with 1,200 liters of air. Actual results showed 0 structures detected.

soot

Testing performed in a 10' x 10' x 10' cube filled with smoke from a fire containing paper, wood and motor oil. Cube fogged with the AeroSolver method. Before and 4 hours after settling samples taken and analyzed by EMSL Analytical, Inc.

RESULT: "After" sample showed a 90% reduction of black carbon of 25 - 30 mm particle size.

Mold

Historic, 100 year-old rowhouse in Washington, DC contaminate by high levels of Aspergillus Niger from water-damaged building materials. One of the property owners was diagnosed with acute broncopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA). Remediation performed by Servpro of Washington DC under management by Greg Weatherman using AeroSolver's method and the PURE product. Post Remediation Verification done by modified ERMI testing, analyzed by Mycometrics, LLC - surface DNA-based analysis. Remediation goals were to match outdoor levels and achieve the lowest surface dust possible.

RESULT: All floors showed results lower mold levels than outdoor. Total dust samples per floor were 0.2 mg, 0.0 mg, and 0.8 mg. As of this date, owner is able to live in home with no further health impacts.

Mycotoxin Capture

AeroSolver's fogging method has been shown to capture and detect mycotoxins.

RESULT: HPLC and LCMSMS analyses has shown up to 6.5 nanograms of Ochratoxin A - significant health hazard.

As an analysis tool using odor control

Sometimes leaky windows are otherwise undetectable due to a lack of visual clues.  After fogging with AeroSolver PURE, musty odors become obvious immediately adjacent to the leaky windows while the rest of the structure has no odor.  The fogging and cleaning process does not address interstitial cavities where there may be hidden mold.  The short period of high humidity from the fogging process will cause a short burst of mustiness associated with mold to detect the hidden problems.
